I must say I think I am a bit obsessed with seating, but who isn’t? Right…? Well, I know my husband is going to be over me if I add one more chair to our apartment. I just can’t help myself sometimes. There is nothing like a statement piece of furniture. You know the kind that stops everyone in their tracks and becomes the center of attention.
Strategically thinking about what type of seating will suite a space is a designers top priority. It is important to chose seating that best fits the personality of the owner/owners. The practicality of how the piece will be used in the space. Does it add drama and balance to the space? Is the color, comfort and size a good fit for the clients needs? These are all very important questions to consider when making the right choice for the space. Whether you are looking for a new sofa, accent or dining chair be mindful of the things I previously stated. It will make for easier hunting when you go out to find your perfect match for your space.
In my ventures in looking for statement seating I found some inspiration to steer me in the right direction. Take a look and tell me what you think.
Lately, as I have been browsing the internet I have been fascinated with interiors with a touch of African influence. In my search I have come across a few great ways to incorporate African details to a space without looking overdone and keeping a space modern. I have even picked up a few new pieces to add to my own home, which I absolutely love. Check out some inspiration I have found that helped me along the way.
Being a girly girl, I love lots of pinks, reds and purples. Glamorous detail such as; fur throws, animal print and metallic accessories. All these things make a home sweet home for me. Incorporating a room or two to the leading lady is a must in my opinion. Sorry gentleman but I am sure you understand. What’s that saying, “A happy wife means a happy life.” Just saying! A woman needs a place to unwind and be delighted in all the beautiful things around her.
Ladies when creating your feminine sanctuary remember these key elements:
1. Use soft to the touch fabrics.
2. Choose your color palette wisely. For example, pinks, purples or pastels.
3. Use pretty accessories (metallics are everything). Kind-of-like the jewelry in the room.
4. Choose furniture with curves down to the legs.
